20 years of Shaun Cunneen!

On the 19th of August, 2022, the Swan Brothers family will celebrate 20 years of employment with Shaun Cunneen!

Shaun started with Swan Brothers, officially, at the tender age of 20. But, before his ‘real job’ with us, he had already spent some time around the depot as a casual during school holidays.

Back in 2002, Shaun went straight into spreader driving and remembers fondly getting his heavy vehicle licence and being mentored and taught by our David Swan.

Shaun Cunneen joined the Swan Brothers team as a 20 year old in 2002. He had hair!

In the earlier years Shaun had an equal love for fertiliser spreading and harvest grain carting.

He often commented on how much he enjoyed the seasonal changes at work which kept his role interesting and challenging. Shaun would explain that by the time he started to get tired of one task it would be time to switch over to a new one.

20 years with Swan Brothers has been a family journey for Shaun, Mandy, Jas, Ryan and Archer.

Shaun also looked forward to the beginning of each new season and would often set professional goals for himself in which he nearly always achieved. Whether it was tonnes or hectares per week or grain loads per day. He was always looking to improve himself and represent the Swan business as best he could.

These days, Shaun is employed as our Operations Manager. Appointed in 2017, and with nearly five years in the trenches, Shaun has developed his leadership style and determination to get the job done.

During his role as Operations Manager, Shaun has acquired both formal qualifications in leadership and had plenty of hands on experience working with an expanding customer base and spreading team.

During the spreading season, Shaun is across every vehicle movement, delivery, client, and team member, with his phone permanently glued to his head.

In quieter times, Shaun likes to sneak off to the beach for fishing or a peaceful ride on his motorbike with the kids.

Shaun always walks around with a big smile and is always willing to help. And, our customers often remark on his friendly and accommodating attitude.

It is interesting to know that Shaun almost never sleeps late because he is usually awake thinking about his day ahead, well before his alarm goes off.

We do know that Shaun does miss the earlier days, the quiet phone, relaxing tunes and breathtaking views from the spreader cab. But, given that the whole the team at Swan Brothers would be lost without him, we think that he better hang around for another 20!

So here’s a cheers to Shaggers! You have a massive heart that matches both your work ethic and your competitive spirit. Go well Shaun!
