This month Craig has been busy soil testing near the Coorong, carefully taking paddock samples at depths of 30cm, 60cm, and 90cm to assess the macro and micro nutrient profiles. Using our advanced soil testing unit fitted with the Wintex 3000, an automatic, powerful, and reliable soil sampler.
After collecting the soil samples, they are sent to the Nutrient Advantage laboratory in Adelaide to be analysed. Once the results are in, we review the report and consult with the farmer to discuss ways to enhance their soil health and address any deficiencies.

How Do Macro and Micro Nutrients Improve Your Soil?
Macro Nutrients: The primary macro nutrients—Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), and Potassium (K) —are vital energy sources for growing plants. These nutrients form the foundation for strong plant growth. Additionally, plants require Sulphur (S), Calcium (Ca), and Magnesium (Mg) to further stimulate healthy development. Macro nutrients improve soil health by providing the essential building blocks necessary for plant growth and vitality.
Micro Nutrients: The nine crucial micronutrients—Zinc (Zn), Copper (Cu), Manganese (Mn), Molybdenum (Mo), Boron (B), Iron (Fe), and Chlorine (Cl)—are required in smaller quantities but are equally important for healthy plant growth and soil health.
Micro nutrients enhance soil health by promoting healthy development, preventing diseases, and ensuring the overall wellbeing of both plants and soil.

Benefits of Soil Testing
We believe that understanding soil health is a long-term investment in your most valuable asset: your soil. Over time, this investment will provide significant benefits, including:
Improved year-to-year productivity
Enhanced soil fertility and overall soil health
Increased capacity to sequester carbon in your soils
Improve the sustainability of our Coorong region, Coorong soils and our Coorong community
Understanding and improving your soil health ensures that your land remains fertile and capable of supporting healthy plant growth for years to come.
